- This is something of a newbie question; please read no further if
- those things offend you...
-
- Running Windows under NetWare with the Clarkson packet drivers I am
- able to run a telnet session from Boston College's bcgopher but not
- from HGopher or Mosaic. I understand that without ODI or a separate
- stack I cannot run more than a single socket (if that's the
- correct term), but I'm surprised that bcgopher is able to hand
- things of to telnet.
-
- My error message with HGopher and Mosaic includes "gethostbyname
- failed" which, I assume, is the system's way of saying that the
- single socket is not available.
-
- So my question is, how come bcgopher can do it when HGopher and
- Mosaic cannot?
